This role offers the chance to guide and shape the planning policy framework in a vibrant area that includes four towns and beautiful rural landscapes. Key Responsibilities Develop and Implement Planning Policies: Create and revise local planning policies and strategies. Align with national and regional planning guidelines. Lead Policy Projects: Oversee complex planning policy projects from start to finish. Conduct public consultations and engage with essential stakeholders. Data Analysis and Reporting: Perform in-depth research and data analysis to inform policy making. Generate comprehensive reports and presentations for council sessions and external parties. Collaborate and Advocate: Collaborate with the Development Control team to ensure adherence to policies. Represent the Council at public inquiries and hearings. Provide Expert Advice: Give expert planning policy advice to council members and the public. Guide and assist junior planning officers in the department. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have: Educational Background: A degree in planning or a related discipline. Professional Qualifications: Preferably a Licentiate or full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
