Job summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced counsellor to join our Cancer and Psychological Support (CaPS) Service. You will be responsible for providing counselling support to patients and carers impacted by a cancer diagnosis, supporting them from diagnosis onward as they navigate their cancer journey.
You will be based at Prince Philip Hospital, covering the Carmarthenshire county of our Health Board, and will need experience working autonomously within acute/community settings and homeworking. The role involves travel across sites in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and Ceredigion if required. CaPS offers talking therapy via a blended model, including online, telephone, text, and face-to-face counselling, supporting individuals both one-on-one and in groups.
The service provides a supportive team environment where you will be a key team member and contribute to ongoing service development.

Main duties of the job
1. Work autonomously while supporting and proactively contributing to the team.
2. Support flexible working arrangements, with a focus on face-to-face work in Llanelli.
3. Undertake assessments to determine client suitability and provide one-on-one counselling and group facilitation.
4. Have experience and understanding of cancer care and working with life-limiting illnesses.
5. Adopt a hybrid approach, working in clinical and community settings, including homeworking.
6. Maintain digital records and demonstrate digital counselling practice.
Qualifications and experience relevant to cancer care, digital counselling, and autonomous community working are essential. Knowledge of NHS and bilingual communication skills are desirable. The role requires DBS clearance and UK professional registration.
