Based in the Media Studio Department, the main duties of the Audiovisual Support Technician are in providing an on-demand audiovisual and videoconferencing support service to staff in Cambridge University Hospitals. The job involves working independently to problem solve, prepare quotations, and book meetings.
You will be expected to have a sound knowledge and experience of audiovisual systems and computer operating systems.
You will be working within the busy Audio Visual team within the Media Studio Department, which has a collaborative approach to working with colleagues in delivering a quality service to its clients.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Provide a rapid response to calls for technical assistance from users of audiovisual & videoconferencing equipment, including integrated installed systems.
2. Ensure the hospital seminar rooms and lecture theatres and equipment are checked and maintained efficiently.
3. Demonstrate to clients the correct use of AV equipment.
4. Assist in the preparation of quotations for the acquisition, commissioning, and installation of audiovisual & videoconference equipment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ or similar in IT or administration skills.
* First degree or HND in Information technology, graphics, or design.
* AV specific qualifications CTS or Extron AV Associate (or similar).
Experience
* Dealing with customers face to face at all levels.
* Confident with the use of projectors, wall monitors, control panels, switchers, VC codecs, cameras, microphones, speakers, and associated video and audio components.
* Experience of Extron, Crestron, AMX controlled systems.
* Preparation of audiovisual quotations for customers.
Knowledge
* Understanding of the conceptual design of a controlled audiovisual system.
* Office administration, computer operation, and software such as Office suite.
* Presentation software and its applications.
* Demonstrable understanding of computer hardware and software including databases.
Skills
* Excellent communication skills, especially by telephone and email.
* Ability to deal with staff at all levels.
* Computer Aided Design (CAD) - 2D plan drawings (AutoCAD equivalent).
