About The Role
With 120 years’ creative arts experience, we are on a quest to offer the highest standards of teaching and professional facilities, as well as a vibrant creative community. With over 7,000 students, our portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and postgraduate research represents the breadth of the creative industries, from art, design and fashion, to games, music, film and business.
Our mission is to deliver exceptional higher education and research, harnessing the fusion of creativity and technology as foundations of the future economy. We use our knowledge and expertise in these disciplines to generate positive and sustainable opportunities for all.
In support of this we are currently seeking to appoint a dynamic leader and manager as Course Leader for our BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and BA(Hons) Interior Design courses. The post-holder will be responsible to the Head of the School of Architecture, Design and Interiors.
Based in The School of Architecture, Design and Interiors (SADI) at our Falmouth campus, Cornwall the interior courses enjoy a unique educational environment set in modern open plan design studios with a backdrop of tropical gardens and stunning coastlines. These professionally tuned courses deliver real-world design and digital skills while utilising live projects to empower student learning, providing a thorough understanding of how to design innovative interior environments and spaces for today and tomorrow.
As Course Leader, you will provide leadership and management to the course team and support the Head of Subject with new product development, recruitment, growth of the department, planning and operational management within the subject area. You will lead the Interior courses curriculum planning and development, ensuring a positive student experience and will oversee quality assurance for the courses through internal course and module reviews. Alongside this you will be responsible for dedicated module leadership, delivering excellent teaching through lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials, with the ability to develop strong links with local, national and international industry partners.
The ability to develop and lead curricula that will ‘inspire’ the next generation of designers is key to this role. We seek a talented and experienced senior academic with leadership and design practice experience who is interested in developing the future sharing of interior education with a dedicated and knowledgeable staff team.
About You
With proven experience as a Course Leader or manager, you will have held previous/recent responsibility for staff and budgets. You will possess comprehensive and current knowledge of Interior Architecture, theory and practice, as well as being able to demonstrate an ongoing and demonstrable track record in research through practice, publications, grant awards and Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions.
