The role
As a Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Join a dynamic team of Design Engineers, where you'll deliver innovative designs, tackling complex engineering challenges, and driving compliance within critical nuclear projects.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide technical engineering support and contribute to process engineering design activities, managing modifications to nuclear plant and equipment across Devonport Royal Dockyard and the MOD’s Authorised Site.
* Work within a team to deliver designs across all design phases.
* Oversee the creation, review, and approval of technical documents and drawings.
* Perform engineering analyses, including calculations, structural assessments, and fluid flow studies.
* Ensure compliance with nuclear regulations, standards, and licence conditions.
* Provide technical support for nuclear assets while managing project schedules.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Design Engineer
* Proficient in mechanical engineering principles for pressure/pipework systems.
* Familiar with the design lifecycle.
* Knowledgeable about regulations and standards for nuclear processes and pressure systems.
* Skilled in project specification, planning, and budgeting.
* Experienced in areas such as pressure systems, CAD, engineering simulation, fluid flow analysis, or nuclear plant design.
Qualifications for the Design Engineer
The ideal candidate holds a minimum of an HND/FdSc/FdEng or equivalent in mechanical/process engineering and is professionally registered with an engineering institution.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
