Job Description Summary
GE's Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers' power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
The Quality Engineer will work within the current quality team reporting directly to the UK Quality Leader.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Manage the company NCR system, provide management reports and drive the actions with the required stakeholders to resolution by known quality tools such as Kaizen, RCA, 8D, 5 Whys, etc.
2. Carry out product and process audits.
3. Create project and manufacturing control plans.
4. Ensure that control plans and associated documentation are implemented effectively and maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project.
5. Monitor and report quality-related KPIs including Scrap/Rework levels and First Time Yield with dedicated manufacturing and chain weekly quality Gemba's.
6. Promote a zero defect and stop the line culture.
7. Ensure compliance and assist with the QMS (ISO 9000:2015).
8. Participate in cross-functional teams to aid development and identification of risk on new projects/processes, inclusive of using an FMEA approach.
9. Meet with customers during project meetings and final inspections and prepare reports and presentations to support these meetings.
10. Be flexible in approach and time management to allow tasks to be completed to support project timelines.
Skills and Attributes:
1. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
2. Knowledge of quality systems and measurement tools and techniques.
3. Knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Part Approval Processes (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
4. Lean Manufacturing knowledge, VSM, and Gauge R&R.
5. Understanding of engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical) and manufacturing processes.
6. Knowledge of NATO standards AQAP 2105/2110, etc.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
1. Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or HNC, or equivalent NVQ level 4 qualification.
