A personal assistant is required for a bright and inquisitive six-year-old boy with Septo-optic dysplasia and autism who lives near St Austell.
He is severely sight impaired and requires constant supervision and care to ensure his safety at home and when accessing the community.
He enjoys exploring cause and effect, particularly with opening and closing doors and drawers. He loves swimming, physical play, music, number rhymes, tactile experiences, and repetitive sensory activities.
The role involves supporting him with daily activities, including self-care and communication, ensuring his safety both at home and in the community, and helping with sensory and tactile needs.
The rate of pay starts at £12.00 per hour, with the potential for an increase based on the candidate's skills and experience.
There are 8 hours per week available during term time and 10 hours per week during school holidays, with flexible scheduling to suit the right candidate’s availability.
Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with special educational needs is essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
