Job summary Foot & Ankle Fellow Advertisement Applications are sought for the Windsor Foot and Ankle Fellowship, a nationally recognised post-CCT 6-month training post based at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals. The fellowship has been run by Mr Callum Clark and Mr Raman Dega since 2007 and has an excellent reputation for preparing senior trainees for life as a Consultant foot and ankle surgeon. We are looking to fill two six-month vacancies one commencing April 2025. The successful applicants will be expected to take responsibility for the smooth running and management of the Foot and Ankle unit and will undertake both supervised and independent clinics and operating lists. Time is allocated for study and research, which is also an important element of the post. Study leave is available upon application and remuneration will be in line with the National salary scale with appropriate banding payment. A full job description is available upon request.Only candidates with the relevant experience will be forwarded for shortlisting. The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early once we have received sufficient suitable applicants. Main duties of the job Our main priority is to make sure you enjoy your time with us and gain a wide experience in foot and ankle surgery. We are very keen that you gain practical experience during your time here, as the fellowship is designed to prepare you for life as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. You will be seeing new patients in the clinics and both assisting and performing operations under supervision in theatre. You will also have your own weekly parallel operating session, the case-mix of which can be discussed with the consultants. Most of your time will be spent at Heatherwood Hospital, with some sessions at Wexham Park. On an ad hoc basis we recommend you forego elective work at Heatherwood if an interesting foot and ankle trauma case is taking place in Wexham theatres. You will have responsibility for the triaging of referral letters into the unit, all of which is done electronically via EPIC, which is the paperless system used for all clinical duties in the trust. Currently there is no on-call commitment with this job, and none is planned. Up to 2 sessions a week are spent in the private sector, which will give the Fellow an insight into private healthcare. We feel this is an important preparation for life as a Consultant and is an aspect of training that is often neglected.
