Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Coding Officer- Bank, based within the Coding Department at Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. This is a challenging and high profile role requiring the post holder to analyse, extract and code detailed information regarding patient’s diagnoses and procedures.
We are looking for an experienced ACC qualified Clinical Coder who has a minimum of 2 years’ experience coding a range of specialities within an Acute Trust, and who is up to date with Foundation and Refresher training.
The post holder will be expected to help the department meet monthly deadlines, by filling any gaps in the coding department, offering to provide cover for annual leave and other extended periods of absence by substantive staff members. You should be able to be adaptable to aid with cover on an ad-hoc basis.
You should be enthusiastic, adaptable and self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and target driven with good interpersonal skills and the capability to work to targets and tight deadlines.
The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the Trusts IT systems, including Medicode and Lorenzo, be equally confident working within a team as well as individually, and willing to work at either site.

The post holder will extract clinical information from case notes and/or other source documentation. They will need to translate diagnostic and procedural statements into alphanumeric codes, according to World Health Organisation and NHS England guidelines and enter these into the Solventum Medicode Coding System in a timely and accurate manner.
Liaise with the site leader to ensure that deadlines are met for the department, and to decide what hours of work are required/available.
