We have an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join the Private Client Department within a local and highly reputable law firm.
This a full time, permanent role based from offices in the Chesham area.

The Role:
As a Private Client Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing your own case load, acting self-sufficiently and without need for secretarial support.
You will assist the head of department with cases, and contribute to the effective operation of the firm, establishing scales of efficiency and actively working to develop new sources of potential income streams for the department.
Duties:
1. Maintaining a watching brief over the other fee earners’ files when they are on holiday, sick, etc.
2. Pro actively building and growing the department and actively developing new sources of potential income streams
3. Promoting a positive working environment within the firm
4. Marketing and promoting the firm and its service offerings
5. Undertaking research on developing areas of law and procedure to remain up to date on key issues
6. Maintaining CPD requirements as expected by the firm
7. General administrative tasks in relation to individual file management
8. Visiting clients, taking instructions
9. Writing letters, drafting wills, billing
10. Appropriate control of ‘work in progress’
11. Risk management
12. Keeping clients regularly informed on progress and costs
13. Producing articles for website on wills and probate issues on a regular basis
14. Utilising social media frequently, in particular LinkedIn and Twitter, to promote the firm and its service offerings
15. Running and/or assisting in the running of stalls trade shows and such like
16. Other tasks as requested
Requirements:
17. Practising certificate
18. Minimum 3 years PQE (post qualification)
19. Experience dealing with wills and probate matters
20. Experience dealing with Lasting Powers of Attorney
21. Experience dealing with Court of Protection (desirable)
22. Experience dealing with Tax and Trust matters (desirable)
23. STEP qualification (desirable)
24. Experience attending clients
25. Experience drawing up bills
26. Experience supervising staff
Practical skills:
27. Administration skills to enable self-sufficiency

30. Telephone skills
31. Time management skills
32. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English

Must have a good working knowledge of the SRA Code of Conduct and Accounts Rules
