Atlas Language School is recruiting a qualified and well-motivated Director of Studies for its British Council-recognised summer school at the University of Chichester in England.
You must be a British or Irish citizen or Other with the right to work in the UK. You must be DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL qualified.
The contract of employment runs from Wednesday 25th June 2025 - Monday 28th July 2025 (inclusive). You will get free room and board for the length of this position. Pay is £3000 (pounds sterling).
THE POSITION
The Atlas Junior centre in Chichester delivers a range of courses to 10 to 17 year-olds. All students live on-site on the beautiful university of Chichester campus. A small- to medium-sized centre with up to 220 students at peak. All teachers are recruited in advance by the year-round team, and you are responsible for organising the teaching and learning when the Chichester centre is open. There are morning and afternoon classes.

* Arrive in Chichester on Wednesday 25th June - 2 day school set up by the management team.
* Friday 27th June and Saturday 28th June - teacher induction.
* First classes running from Tuesday 1st July 2025 for 4 weeks.
* Last day, Monday 28th July 2025.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for organising the delivery of quality communicative lessons in a way that engages and challenges the students. Classes run in the mornings and afternoons. Teachers generally teach for 30 hours (3 hours each morning and each afternoon), 5 teaching days between Monday and Saturday. Carrying out Teacher Induction Day on Friday June 27th + Saturday June 28th.
As the DOS, your main duties and responsibilities include:
* Liaise with Centre Manager in Chichester to set up the academic resources.
* Plan and prepare the academic component of Atlas Junior Staff Induction Day for teachers starting.
* Organise student testing, assessment, placement and induction.
* Prepare class timetables ensuring teachers are allocated to classes and levels appropriately.
* Implement and maintain Atlas academic procedures i.e., class registers, reports and certificates.
* Carry out lesson observations and provide oral and written feedback to teachers.
* Manage student assessment and ensure assessment reports by teachers are completed on a weekly basis.
* Be proactive in offering support to teachers before it is requested.
* Deal with student and group leader enquiries on academic matters.
* To teach only in emergencies to meet operational demands.
* Ensure academic management at the centre meets the standards set by the British Council accreditation scheme.
* Support the Centre Manager in the overall management of the centre.
DURATION From Wednesday 25th June 2025 - Monday 28th July 2025 (inclusive) in Chichester, England. The DOS will also need to be available to attend an induction session a few days before their start date and some preparatory work. The DOS receives one day off during the week. Pay is £3000 (pounds sterling). Accommodation and meals (three per day) are also provided QUALIFICATIONS
* Level 7 qualification on the British/Irish National Framework of Qualifications - a minimum of an ordinary Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
* TEFL-Qualified status: Cambridge DELTA, or Trinity DipTESOL.
