The Opportunity; To meet our growing UK business Portfolio and future development aspirations, we are looking for a Senior Consultant with experience in Flood Risk management to join our multi-disciplinary Water Environment team. The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities. In this newly created role your remit will include: As a lead member of a growing team, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering: • Civil Engineering design for flood risk management projects. • Business cases for flood risk management schemes - Surface Water Management Plans. • Climate change resilience and adaptation plans, in addition to technical project delivery. • Coordination of resources and line management of team members. • Training and mentoring of members of the team. • Maintaining and developing strong internal and external client relationships. • Providing high quality Civil Engineering advice for a variety of infrastructure projects. • Quality Assurance on project deliverables - Working with the wider UK Water Environment team. • Collaborating with other areas of the business on multi-disciplinary projects. Our UK Water Environment team is over 450 strong, responsible for the development of strategic, feasibility and design advice and compliance services within energy, carbon, water, climate change and resource management sectors. Delivering sustainable, resilient solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients including the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Utility companies, Highways Agencies, National Rail companies and Airports. Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Physical Geography or Environmental Science Chartered through ICE or CIWEM Excellent knowledge and experience of planning policy and infrastructure design requirements, river or drainage engineering. Experience in the development and costing of options to manage flood risk, including resistance and resilience measures. Detailed knowledge in the calculation of economic flood damages and benefits. Demonstrable track record in business case preparation and the application of five case business model for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Schemes. Ability to develop, price and agree scope of services. Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Experience of working with stakeholders such as Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, SEPA, Water and Sewerage companies. Have an understanding of 1D-2D hydraulic modelling software (e.g. Flood Mapper, TUFLOW, InfoWorks etc.) and Application of GIS software such as MapInfo, ArcGIS and QGIS Our Culture; Our values stand on a foundation of safety, integrity, inclusion and diversity.
