Learning Manager (Head of Year)
Location: Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:40am – 4:30pm
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only until the end of the academic year
Pay: Competitive, depending on experience, from £115 per day
GSL Education are working with a friendly and inclusive secondary school in the Boroughbridge area of York, to appoint a Learning Manager (Head of Year) to start as soon as possible. This is a non-teaching, pastoral support role covering long-term staff absence, and will continue until the end of the academic year.
About the Role as a Learning Manager:
* Non-teaching position, focused on supporting student behaviour and wellbeing.
* Managing a year group and working closely with form tutors, pastoral staff, and senior leaders.
* Implementing positive behaviour reinforcement strategies.
* Providing support to students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs and other additional support needs.
* Liaising with parents, external agencies, and school staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student progress and welfare.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have school-based experience, ideally in a pastoral or behaviour-focused role.
* Be confident managing behaviour across key stages 3 and 4, including challenging situations.
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of working with students with SEMH needs.
* Be calm, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with young people.
* Have a proactive and solution-focused approach to pastoral issues.
* Possess excellent communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and parents/carers.
