As part of UWE’s Computer Science Research Centre, you will join a national team delivering “TREvolution”. This ambitious Transformation Programme project sits at the heart of the UK’s aim to establish a safe and collaborative, AI-enabled network of Trusted Research Environments where approved researchers can efficiently access and analyse sensitive data to advance research for public benefit.
Responsibilities
* Helping produce software prototypes as part of the co-design process with stakeholders;
* Guiding the transformation of research outputs into robust production-ready implementations that conform to high standards of trustworthiness and safety;
* Contributing to the maintenance and extension of the open-source repositories within thesacrofamily;
* Liaising with other TREvolution partners and our international stakeholder community to agree common standards and best practice for development and documentation.
About You
We’re looking for dynamic people with the ambition to help deliver research outcomes that matter, enabled by trustworthy software. You will be passionate about the social good that AI and advanced analytics might bring, but respectful of people’s concerns about privacy, and the need to ensure inclusive benefits for all.
You will hold a BSc. in Computer Science or related subject and be able demonstrate continuing professional development of your software engineering expertise. A higher degree (Level 7 eg. MSc) or a technical or managerial qualification or professional body membership in a relevant subject or area would be desirable.
It would be a benefit if you had some experience of:
* engineering user interfaces using frameworks such as Django,
* some analysis languages such as R or Stata,
* Machine Learning frameworks such as pytorch or tensorflow.
Prior experience of working in a research environment would also be a benefit.
You thrive in collaborative environments and have the communication skills to work with a diverse range of stakeholders. Proficiency in managing complex collaborative software projects is essential, and an understanding of secure data environments would be desirable.
