What's involved with this role: Interim Acquisitions & Disposals Senior Surveyor K&C 5262808 Key Requirements: A Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors RICS. Must have Local Authority experience and with Residential Sales. A demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of surveyors, delegating tasks effectively and providing guidance and support. Significant experience in development surveying, within a local authority or other public sector. Proven track record of successfully delivering development projects, including a deep understanding of complex planning, legal, and technical issues, including urban planning, sustainability, and infrastructure. A strategic mindset to identify and capitalise on opportunities within the property market, aligning with the Council's overall objectives. A strong understanding of commercial principles and the ability to negotiate complex deals that maximise value for the Council. Extensive experience in conducting complex valuations, including expert witness work, and a deep understanding of specialist property types. We are looking for candidates to lead a team of surveyors focused on the acquisition and disposal of properties and the Council’s strategic property development initiatives, maximising the value of the Council's land holdings, identifying and securing development opportunities and delivering best value for money on property transactions, ensuring compliance and achieving the Council’s strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the acquisitions and disposals strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall Acquisition and Disposal programme, Development Initiatives vision and the Council’s wider goals. Lead and manage a high-performing team of surveyors, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management to foster a positive team culture and promote collaboration. Develop and implement a strategic development plan aligned with the Council’s strategic objectives and maximise the value of the property portfolio. Oversee the entire development process from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with professional standards. Oversee the acquisition process for new properties, identifying potential acquisition opportunities, conducting due diligence, negotiating favourable terms and managing legal processes. Lead complex negotiations with landowners, developers and other stakeholders to secure optimal terms for property acquisitions and disposals. Manage the disposal process, identifying surplus assets, developing effective marketing strategies, and managing the sales process to maximise financial returns for the Council.
