An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy dynamic photographic division of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust. The Medical Photography Department, based in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, provides a wide range of photographic services for the Trust and Outreach Clinics.
We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic, conscientious, motivated, and highly organised medical photographer to work effectively in a team of 23 within our busy clinical/ophthalmic photography department. The job may include working evenings and weekends.
Proven experience within a similar environment would be an advantage; however, if not qualified, we will consider a Trainee Medical Photographer using Annex 21. If Trainee, successful qualification will be required, completing the Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography with Staffordshire University. During this period, the trainee will be placed on Annex 21 at 75% of Band 5 for 12 months.
The successful candidate will have a flexible approach and excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

To support in providing a professional, cost-effective, efficient clinical and non-clinical photographic service using digital technologies to service the Trust. To ensure a high technical standard to aid in diagnosis, clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, research, and publication purposes. To perform administrative and clerical tasks as necessary for the efficiency of the service, being accountable to the department head.
Job responsibilities
Part of a team of 23 professionals and 3 clerical officers, who provide a full range of clinical and non-clinical services to consultants and patients. Contributes to the provision of a high-quality comprehensive photographic service without direct supervision. Maintain an up-to-date Continuous Professional Development (CPD) portfolio to satisfy the requirement of the Health Professions Council and Institute of Medical Illustrators. This is a mandatory requirement to maintain continued State Registration.

* To ensure a high technical standard to aid in clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, research, and publication purposes.
* To perform administrative and clerical tasks as necessary for the efficiency of the service.
Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month's pay.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Has a high level of understanding in matters surrounding confidentiality, consent, and data protection in Medical Photography.
* Fully up to date with information technology and multimedia.
* Some knowledge or experience of Medical Photography Practice.
Skills
* Competence with all SLR camera formats.
* Experience in a wide range of computer skills and software programs.
Qualifications
* BSc in Medical Illustration or equivalent experience.
