Currently on the lookout for a Assistant Quantity surveyor to join a reputable tier 1 contractor for a heavy civils and infrastructure. The project has a strong focus on drainage, earthworks, and ground works within a large-scale infrastructure setting. This role offers the unique advantage of being outside IR35 and provides the flexibility of a hybrid working model.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for heavy civils projects.
* Support the measurement and valuation of work done on-site, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
* Assist in the management of subcontractor accounts, including variations and final account preparation.
* Contribute to risk assessments and ensure cost control procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
* Help monitor cash flow, ensuring costs align with forecasts and budgetary expectations.
* Provide regular progress reports to senior surveyors and project management teams.
* Support the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts.
Key Requirements:
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* 1-2 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within the heavy civils and infrastructure sectors.
* Experience with drainage, earthworks, or groundworks projects is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC3, NEC4, or similar).
* Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
* Good communication skills to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
* Ability to work independently with a proactive attitude.
