Responsibilities:
* Work alongside the Manager in a children's home.
* Ensure that our service users receive the highest standard of support/care appropriate to their individual needs.
* Be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and engagement.
* Build and develop relationships with our young people and encourage them to participate fully in the opportunities offered within the home.
* Plan and participate fully in a working rota, which will include evenings, sleep-ins, and weekends.
* Build strong working relationships with external agencies such as Local Authorities and other Health/Social Care professionals.
* Conduct formal key work sessions with young people and produce reports for each session.
* Understand and follow the required legislation, policies, processes, and procedures set by the home to deliver your role effectively.
* Be responsible for the effective safeguarding of the young people within your care and understand how to raise any concerns.
* Support our young people with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, medical appointments, meetings, etc.
Shift Patterns: The normal shift patterns of the home rotas are from approx. 8 am to 10 pm and include waking nights or sleep-ins from 10 pm to 8 am. Shifts can be subject to rota change to meet the needs of the home.
Ideal Experience:
* Experience of working within a residential environment.
* An understanding of relevant legislation relating to the care of young people.
* Experience of working with young people that have social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties (desirable).
* Ideal candidates will hold Diploma Level 3 qualification in Residential Child Care or be willing to study for this.
Essential Requirements:
* Full UK driving license (a MUST).
* Ability to work shifts and sleep-ins from 10 pm to 8 am.
* Successful applicant must be over the age of 21.
* Full-time permanent post.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
