Do you have a positive approach to work and enjoy the challenge of a busy role?
We have an opportunity for you: Youth Support Worker in Team EPIC, the innovative Youth Crime Prevention Service.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with young people who will present highly challenging behaviours, which at times can be very stressful, and be prepared to work flexibly as the core delivery periods will include evening and some weekends.
The role will aim to prevent young people from entering the criminal justice system and preventing further offending. The post will cover the local authority area of Doncaster, covering all aspects of EPIC’s work, within communities, schools and supporting young people on a one-to-one basis. In addition, you will support the team on increasing the range of positive activities available for at-risk young people to support the reduction of anti-social behaviour in areas of high deprivation.
You will be involved in providing a combination of positive recreational activities and educational development and will support young people to achieve tangible outcomes - such as increasing their life skills, transforming their behaviour, gaining qualifications, and re-engaging with education and moving closer to the labour market.
EPIC contributes to the wider goals of the City, tackling Child Exploitation, supporting young people and families. Candidates with experience of working with young people who have been exploited would be encouraged.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working independently on a one-to-one basis with young people and supporting them to change their behaviours and acquire new skills. Working with other professionals in order to support the best outcomes for young people is essential. Our programme of support includes important topics such as community cohesion, police activities, and their ambitions to succeed. The successful candidate will be required to work to many competing deadlines, produce timely reports, and detailed case studies.
What you will bring to the team includes skills in engaging and building positive relationships with young people in a variety of different ways, the ability to work as a team to enhance the delivery of our programmes, enthusiasm, innovative ideas, and a passion for improving the lives of young people through positive activities and learning.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.
