The Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery (OMFS) department at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust have been supporting the delivery of urgent suspected skin cancer diagnostics and treatments since July 2022. Typically, 35% of the organisation's skin cancer referrals are triaged for a clinical review with the OMFS team, triggering a clinic appointment with a view to diagnostics biopsy or excision of any lesion that patients present with skin cancer.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 registered nurse to join the OMFS department as a skin cancer nurse, supporting in the one stop clinics.
The role is a fixed-term contract for a full-time band 5 at 37.5 hrs a week Monday to Friday for a 12-month period. The post holder will primarily be working in the Surgical Hub at Dewsbury and District Hospital but may also be asked to work in the OMFS department on gate 25 at Pinderfields.
The post holder will support the Consultants and Staff grade in a one stop skin cancer Clinic.
Transitioning to a one stop model would drastically reduce the number of required hospital attendances for patients referred into the service, with patients having the opportunity to be reviewed and have treatment on the same day. This can lead to improvements in patient experience as they will be provided with a gold-standard service by having same day treatment.
Do you want to be part of this innovative team, improving patient care and experience?
