Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to support the principal investigator, Dr Ruby Chau, in a project funded by the Social Policy Association called ‘Co-defining Social Policy and Social Policy Education’. The project aims to engage social policy academics from diverse backgrounds to co-define the discipline and the core elements of social policy education.
The post holder will assist in organising and delivering project activities, which include online and in-person group sessions or individual interviews that involve academics from the UK or overseas; online or in-person open forum discussions; producing blog posts and research reports; and steering group and project meetings.
Good communication skills, skills in qualitative research, and the ability to organise online and in-person meetings are essential. Experience working or researching in public or social organisations, an understanding of EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) issues in higher education and co-production in policy and practice are required.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 29 November 2025. Hours of work are part time, 18.12 hours per week.
The post holder will be based at the University Park Campus and can work remotely if agreed upon with the PI. Travelling occasionally to other cities to collect data or attend meetings will be required.
We actively encourage people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds to apply. The school is determined to provide a diverse and inclusive environment for staff and students, drawing on the widest possible range of talents and backgrounds.
