Description
In its 21st year of operations in 2024, MMSA is a petrochemical consultancy. As part of the EA Group, MMSA solves problems for a global set of clients across a wide range of products related to the methanol industry. Major services include an annual global multiclient market/technical review of methanol and methanol derivatives markets. The MMSA database has grown to be the broadest and most interconnected in the industry. MMSA also hosts a major global industry conference annually in Singapore. The company has grown revenues substantially since its inception in early 2004 and continues to expand as methanol becomes increasingly embedded in schemes to transition energy to lower carbon intensity schemes.
MMSA seeks an individual with global and regional experience in methanol markets and technology to continue its growth path using EA’s vast resources, focusing on the European region. The successful candidate will be supported by the Head of Methanol as well as associates as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
* Represent MMSA in European methanol and derivatives markets, developing a strong dialogue with MMSA clients and prospects.
o Regularly contact and report on markets, providing fact-based analysis.
o Enhance, extend, and support MMSA network of contacts.
o Become familiar with multiple aspects of the methanol industry – feedstocks, uses, companies (upstream/downstream), operations, processes/technologies, transportation and logistics schemes, economics, etc.
* Read and become familiar with the MMSA Methanol and Derivatives Analysis.
o Optimize and manage MMSA petrochemical databases on key products. Improve/streamline existing data acquisition processes.
o Monitor key metrics European methanol pricing weekly, conducting monthly and quarterly MMSA EU Methanol Contract Price Surveys.
o Monitor major European and Russian methanol production weekly as well as European methanol consumption weekly. Key derivatives operations status.
o Stratify Europe methanol and derivatives supply and demand balances.
* Learn and master forecasting methodology.
* Support other MMSA petrochemical, natural gas, and refinery project work.
* With the assistance of relevant EA staff, support MMSA commercial activity and growth.
* Assist in the development of global price forecasts.
* Monthly preparation of Methanol Notes - one page, one chart/text memos sent to clients weekly.
* Europe and Russia portions of weekly MMSA Methanol report.
* Presentations to key clients at MMSA and other select conferences.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Bachelors in chemical engineering.
* A minimum of 5 years work experience in a petrochemical organization including Sales/Marketing, Market Development, Trading, Corporate Planning and/or Manufacturing.
* Experience with financial (cash flow) modelling.
* Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) skills.
* Methanol, Acetic Acid, Formaldehyde, olefins experience would be desirable but not required.
