An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, motivated and highly skilled candidate to take on the role of genomics MDT Co-ordinator and departmental administrator for the Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology service.
The ideal candidates will possess excellent organisational, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. The post holder will work closely with the service leadership team as well as a wide range of stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing consistent and professional administrative and clerical support to the Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology department. This role has a variety of ad hoc demands and so the post holder will possess excellent time management and planning skills. This post will also require flexibility and a high degree of organisational skills.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting the department in the attainment of service key performance indicators (KPIs). They will organise meetings, ensure accurate record keeping, action logs and updates.
The post holder will work independently and follow the policies and procedures of the Pathology Partnership/Trust. The post holder will be expected to use their own initiative while working at the direction of their line manager and senior colleagues and keeping them informed of progress.

The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health.
The Pathology Partnership is based on well-established models for pathology networks, with the Royal London Hospital becoming the main hub laboratory for the network and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at all other Hospital sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Cytogenetics and Molecular Haematology Department is part of the Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic service (SIHMDS) and staff work closely with other scientists in Pathology particularly Immunophenotyping and Cellular Pathology as well as research staff at Queen Mary, University of London and clinical colleagues across the region. The department provides a comprehensive cancer genomics service to East London and Essex and works in partnership with the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub. Services offered include Next-generation sequencing, mutation analysis via PCR, post-transplant monitoring and minimal residual disease monitoring. The department has an active research and development programme, in collaboration with the BCI, including long-read sequencing.
Strong organisational and administrative skills, with experience in a busy office or healthcare environment. Excellent communication skills, able to liaise confidently with internal teams and external partners. Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Knowledge of NHS systems and processes (such as patient pathways and multidisciplinary working) is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided! A positive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
