We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Community Officer to work with the community team at Thanet District Council. Contract: Permanent, Full-time - 37 hours. Starting salary £36,132 with the opportunity for progression to £40,860. As a Community Officer, you will work across the Thanet District to support and empower communities and voluntary sector agencies to bring about social change, improve the quality of life in the local area and improve the dialogue and trust between the Council and its community. The Community Officer will bring a broad range of expertise to the role, which could involve coordinating and delivering all community safety activities and initiatives, including investigations, projects to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, as well as multi-agency work. The post would also involve coordinating and delivering community programmes and activities that raise the profile of the ‘Active Thanet’ service that influences and improves health and wellbeing. The Community Officer will also bring a vast knowledge of safeguarding and be able to facilitate training to other teams. Work alongside multi-agencies to develop and implement strategies and evaluate existing programmes to improve specific sections of the community, such as Thanet Community Safety Partnership and Multi-agency Task Force. The post holder needs to be flexible to the needs of the community, be resilient in the face of adversity and optimistic to succeed, with a built in sense of both realism and humour to get the job done. Essential Requirements You will have an understanding of community issues and have detailed knowledge of best practice in community safety. You will have an understanding of Thanet Community Safety Partnership and project management. You will be versatile in your approaches and be able to maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally. Have an understanding of both adult and child safeguarding You will be confident in your communication skills. You will be educated to a good level, have a qualification in Community Safety/similar field or previous experience in a similar role is essential. The postholder must have a full driving licence and provide a vehicle for use on council business. You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and Level 2 Police vetting.
