Academic Mentor - Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel have a variety of opportunities in schools across Brighton, particularly an Academic mentor post from April 2025 on a full-time basis for the full academic year. The successful graduate applying will be working within a mixed secondary school, supporting class teachers during lessons, and providing support to small groups in your specialist subject area. As an Academic mentor, you will be expected to improve the attainment levels of children and develop their subject knowledge, aiding their confidence within lessons and generally around school each day. The position will commence in April and initially for the first term, you’ll work with the Year 7 cohort and prepare them for secondary school life, ideally you’ll have a degree in a core Subject in either English, Maths or Science, benefits of this Academic mentor position include;
* Full time Academic mentor post, starting in April.
* Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:15pm for the school day (optional after school work)
* Rate of pay to reflect previous experience.
* Develop your experience and knowledge of the education sector.
* Regular training courses including “preparation for teaching”.

This is a full time position to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant within a large Brighton based school. Graduates will need to have ambitions to work in the education sector, ideally to progress on to teacher training in the future. Experience prior as a teaching assistant isn’t essential, however you’ll need to have exposure to working with secondary aged children and have a strong passion for working as a teaching assistant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
