Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist (Echocardiography)

We are looking to recruit an experienced Cardiac Physiologists / Healthcare Scientists to work in Echocardiography as part of our Diagnostic Cardiology team.
As a tertiary centre, Sheffield Teaching Hospital delivers several regional services, and by joining us, you could be involved in helping deliver our comprehensive and expanding training program. Develop and expand your knowledge to include ACHD and PH as Sheffield is one of Europe's largest Pulmonary Hypertension centres.
The post holders will undertake routine and complex diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound investigations and interpret results to provide an accurate clinical report that can be clearly understood by a physician not experienced in echocardiography and adheres to local and national guidelines.
Interested applicants should possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology, MSc Clinical Science (Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory and Sleep Sciences), or BTEC / HNC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements and hold RCCP / AHCS / HCPC registration.

Main Duties of the Job
* Support the Cardiac Ultrasound Service for the STHT by providing a high standard of work within Echocardiography that meets organisational, professional, and individual needs for the Diagnostic Cardiology Unit.
* Provide leadership, training, and education in the clinical areas, enabling staff to develop the clinical skills and competencies required to deliver a high-quality diagnostic echo service.
* Work alongside other senior members of the team to deliver a highly intensive in-house Echo training programme.
* Undertake clinical supervision and training of other qualified professionals, junior, and trainee physiological staff.
* Liaise effectively with the Lead Echocardiographer and Lead Trainer in Echo to ensure that departmental and BSE guidelines are maintained and up to date.
* Help develop specialist services and participate in CPD activities to maintain own competencies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MSc Clinical Science (Cardiac, Vascular, Respiratory and Sleep Sciences) or other relevant Level 7 academic qualification or BTEC / HNC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements or BSc in Clinical Physiology with relevant experience.
* SCST parts I & II (if applicable to qualification route).
* British Society of Echocardiography Adult proficiency Accreditation.
* Professional Registration with Academy of Healthcare Science or Health and Care Professions Council.
* Immediate Life Support.
* Teaching or Managerial Qualification/Experience.
Experience
* Perform transthoracic echocardiograms to a high standard independently in accordance with BSE guidelines.
* Demonstrate Continual Professional Development as per British Society of Echocardiography Guidelines.
* Experience in providing specialised, unsupervised diagnostic reports and highlighting urgent findings.
* Professional membership of relevant professional body obtained by examination.
* Ability to deliver hands-on training and support junior members of staff, Specialist Registrars, or other medical professionals.
* Experience of providing a wide range of diagnostic investigations.
* Experience in supervision and assessment.
* Some experience in specialty procedures e.g., contrast.

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 a year pro rata for part-time staff.
