We are seeking Trust Site Operatives to join us at Beacon Academy and Uplands Academy and manage the specific maintenance and general security of the Academies.
You will work in a shift rota (6.30am – 2.30pm, 8am – 4pm or 11.30am – 7.30pm).
Main Responsibilities
* Routine opening/closing of Academy buildings and grounds throughout the year (inclusive of weekends by agreement and with additional payments).
* Operating heating and hot water plants in accordance with training/instruction and codes of practice, maintaining areas of plants in a neat and tidy state.
* Carrying out security rounds and procedures with other necessary associated duties (i.e. perimeter fencing, alarms, and maintaining fixtures in good state of repair).
* Contacting, as directed, appropriate services in the event of emergencies such as fire, water bursts, break-ins, vandalism, or accidents. Taking appropriate action as necessary to protect the Academy’s buildings and property.
* Assisting with enquiries regarding repair/maintenance works, escorting workmen/contracts to sites of work as directed by the Site Manager, and inspecting/signing off work in his absence if authorised to do so.
* Informing the Site Manager where repairs/maintenance are necessary, particularly in the areas of health and safety where self or others may be at risk, and then carrying out tasks to rectify within the area of your own capabilities and health and safety guidelines.
* Carrying out repair works to internal and external areas of the Academy as scheduled or prioritised by the Site Manager where such works are considered to be within one’s own capabilities with due regard to health and safety regulations.
* Carrying out the replacement/cleaning of indoor and outdoor lighting fittings and diffusers with attention to health and safety.
* Maintaining up-to-date records of repairs and maintenance (in-house) carried out on the site.
* Attending emergency cleaning upon request (i.e. broken glass, sickness, vandal damage, etc.), replacing/repairing where damage has occurred (removing debris, etc.).
* Carrying out cleaning duties to halls, gyms and agreed areas according to routines.
* During Academy closure periods, undertaking floor treatment works (i.e. preparation and application of polishes and seals and carpet cleaning as directed).
* Moving/transporting furniture and equipment as required within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act to facilitate works as specified.
* Setting out the required furniture for examinations, assemblies and functions as and when detailed.
* Accepting the delivery of parcels and other materials/goods (signing for delivery) and ensuring delivery to the appropriate storage/department, obtaining signatures.
* Removing caretaking/cleaning equipment known to be faulty to workshop areas and repairing those that are within your capabilities and health and safety guidelines.
* Ensuring adequate supplies of caretaking and cleaning consumables are maintained and reporting to the Site Manager when re-ordering is required.
* Ensuring that deep cleaning is carried out in areas where major works have been completed.
* Ensuring that the standards of cleaning are maintained, dealing with defects and reporting such defects to the Site Manager.
* Maintaining records of lettings overruns, call-outs and the unauthorised use of the Academy site.
* Carrying out tasks/duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with the needs of the Academy, reasonable requirements and health and safety guidelines.
