ASCO requires a fully qualified Forklift Operator to support our quayside operations in the safe and efficient loading/offloading of cargo from vessels, vehicles, and Base areas, conducted in accordance with all procedures and regulations. Candidates must be currently qualified to operate Counterbalance Forklifts.
Reporting to the Quayside Operations Manager with a working pattern of 7 days on / 7 days off, the key responsibilities of the role are to:
* Conduct daily Forklift checks, assisting in maintenance work as required, and complete all associated compliance documentation.
* Visually inspect cargo prior to lifting to identify and report all snagging hazards, loose objects, and non-compliances.
* Regularly review procedures, work aids, and risk assessments.
* Conduct yard and gantry inspection duties, and assist in other areas of operational requirements, as required.
* Continuously promote a pro-active HSSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance, regularly reviewing procedures and risk assessments.
* Participate in the continuous improvement of customer service, processes, and cost-effectiveness.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours):
* Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible, and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
* Numerate, with strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to work stand-alone while also being a positive contributor to the wider team.
* Solutions-based, strong analytical, planning & organizing skills, and excellent attention to detail.
