General Information Nash College is part of Shaftesbury a Leading Christian charity, we provide specialist day education for 74 students aged 19 to 25 with a range of complex learning needs, physical disabilities and / or autism with associated behavioral needs. Nash College are seeking an exceptional person to take on the role of Maintenance Assistant. You will be part of the on-site Estates Team ensuring the site & buildings are compliant, maintained to a high standard and adhere to Health & Safety requirements. A flexible approach and problem-solving skills are needed for this exciting role. Applicants should have a sound level of general education. A good eye for detail and problem-solving skills. Some IT skills necessary, ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines via the helpdesk system. Experience as a general handyman and/or have a trade. Some compliancy experiences. Purpose Of the Job To work with the Estates & Domestic Manager (EDM) as a member of the maintenance team, assisting with general maintenance, servicing and security, ensuring the site is fit for purpose to meet the exceptional needs of the students. Main Duties 1. To ensure as a member of the maintenance team that the College Campus, buildings and equipment are well maintained to a high standard and a proactive approach is taken for delivering all aspects of the role. 2. Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures. 3. To ensure that all works allocated, including periodic servicing is carried out in accordance with the EDM and policy and procedure, keeping the college compliant to meet relevant regulations and documentation available and up to date for external assessors. 4. To assist the EDM with organizing contractors on site, carry out Helpdesk requests, assisting other members of the maintenance team, attending to emergencies and call outs. 5. To ensure that all issues of maintenance relating to Health & Safety are given a high priority including being proactive in addressing any other site risks or hazards. 6. To undertake general items of maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, minor building works and refurbishments. 7. To ensure site security is maintained including CCTV, Gates, perimeter boundaries, checking external doors and windows are operational and the physical site is securely maintained. 8. To ensure that all tools and equipment are regularly maintained, used appropriately and safely returned to the workshop for use by others. 9. To ensure that the work area including the workshop is kept clean and tidy at all times. 10. To Maintain all fencing across the site to ensure College premises and grounds are secure and fencing is safe and in good condition. 11. To cut/water the lawn grass weekly in spring and summer months and when needed in colder months. 12. To be responsible for and able to evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events ensuring that you are updated in all matters relevant to the role within your Personal Development Plan agreed with your manager. 13. To carry out additional duties and tasks that may be required within the range of the responsibilities of the post.
