Assistant Director Responsive Maintenance - Muir Group - £82,059 plus £4,564 car allowance
Castlefield Recruitment are currently working in partnership with Muir Group, a social housing provider with over 5,500 homes. Predominantly based in the North West, along with regional offices in Burnley and Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.
Muir Group have embarked on a Repairs Transformation project as the next step in delivering their Customer Commitment. Muir Property Solutions (MPS) and We’re Muir have come together to modernise their maintenance service, with a focus on creating a modern, high-performing repairs service, that makes things easier, smarter and better for their customers.
As part of this transformation, an opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Director of Responsive Maintenance. This is an agile working role, with a healthy split between office attendance at the Chester HQ and working from home. The annual salary is £82,059 plus £4,564 car allowance, along with an attractive benefits package.
Job Purpose:
1. Working closely with the Joint Leadership Team support and as appropriate lead the development, regular review and successful implementation of the Group’s Corporate Plan, Priorities and related Strategies.
2. Lead the development, regular review and successful implementation of the Group’s Responsive Maintenance/Asset Management and Building Safety Strategies.
3. Ensure the delivery of efficient and effective Responsive Maintenance services and develop the capability and capacity of the operational teams in order to meet current and future business objectives.
4. Provide clear and innovative leadership across the Responsive Maintenance department.
5. Define, champion and co-ordinate the delivery of a safety culture in relation to Muir Group’s Responsive Maintenance services and ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice expectations.
6. Provide advice, support and guidance to Board members and Executives acting as their principle strategic advisor on topics which fall within the Maintenance remit.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
7. Lead, develop and deliver strategies, policies and procedures that are focused on delivering an excellent customer experience, value for money and maintaining full compliance with all landlord health and safety requirements.
8. Ensure the delivery of a highly effective Responsive Maintenance function by delivering and demonstrating an optimal balance between value for money and the delivery of an excellent customer experience. Ensure that this primary objective is at the centre of strategy, policy and procedural development.
9. To ensure that the Operational teams work collaboratively with other Muir Group teams to deliver effective processes and joint outcomes.
10. Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the Groups Responsive Maintenance, Damp Mould and Condensation strategies and programmes.
11. Lead the Responsive Maintenance department to deliver high levels of service performance whilst managing costs within set budget parameters and maximising value for money for the organisation.
12. Ensure the successful delivery of all Responsive Maintenance, Damp Mould and Condensation related programmes and projects.
13. Prepare and present regular reports to Board, Committees and the Executive Management Team (EMT).
14. Work with the Board, Committees, EMT and JLT to ensure positive and supportive relationships
15. Promote Muir Group by nurturing existing relationships and partnerships, developing new ones to help create new business and service opportunities
16. To utilise the extensive data collected on the Groups stock to inform and support strategies for effective planning and efficient management of the Groups assets.
17. Lead, develop, deliver and regularly review the Associations Responsive Maintenance offer and the expectations of colleagues to deliver it. Ensure that this approach is promoted to all internal stakeholders.
18. Develop and deliver appropriate action plans to support the achievement of strategic objectives and ensure that the appropriate resources and support are in place to effectively deliver those plans.
19. To support the Group’s ambitions to grow and to be more than just a landlord in the areas where it works. With partners, support local communities to build capacity and engage in social investment initiatives which are designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families
20. Deputise for the Executive Director Homes as and when required to do so.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:
21. Appropriate professional qualification such as CIH, RICS, CIOB or equivalent graduate level qualification (D)
22. Degree level education or equivalent through relevant training/experience (E)
23. Recognised management and /or leadership qualification or equivalent experience (E)
24. IOSH Certificate or equivalent (D)
25. Substantial experience at senior management level, with organisational, departmental and budgetary responsibility (E)
26. Substantial People Management experience (E)
27. Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice in the areas of Landlords Health and Safety (fire, water, gas, asbestos, lift and electrical safety (not exhaustive) (E)
28. Experience of working at a senior level with Boards and Committees (D)
29. Extensive experience of business planning and development of organisation vision and strategy (E)
30. Demonstrable recent experience of leading on significant organisational change activities such as organisation restructures (E)
31. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulatory requirements (E)
32. Substantial knowledge and experience of the housing sector (D)
33. Substantial knowledge and understanding of the Regulators’ Consumer Standards (D)
