Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with high-level managers, executives, governmental officials, and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Maintenance Support Tech II
* Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
* Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles, and minor equipment.
* Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed.
* Maintains radio contact with field units; responds to assists with emergency situations as required.
* Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities.
* Processes receipts and invoices for payment.
* Edits correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax, style, sentence structure, content, and clarity.
* Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Maintenance Support Tech III (In addition to duties above)
* Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and/or confidential and sensitive communications.
* Maintains materials inventory.
* Monitors equipment mileage and service records.
* Inputs and maintains daily production reports and compiles monthly reports for manager.
* Coordinates with district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles, and minor equipment.
* May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.
* Prepares monthly and final maintenance contract estimates.
* Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education : High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
Experience:
* Maintenance Support Tech II (additional qualifications)
Experience: 1 YEAR in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
* Maintenance Support Tech III (additional qualifications)
Experience: 3 YEARS in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
Licenses and Certifications : Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Maintenance Support Tech II
* Some knowledge of:
o Applicable computer systems and applications
o Preparing correspondence/documents using correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation; proofreading and reviewing documents for clarity and consistency
o Purchasing methods and procedures
o Roadway maintenance concepts, methods, and procedures
o Inventory/stock control procedures
o Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports
* Dealing courteously and effectively with the public
* Administrative support practices and procedures to include writing, editing, and report writing techniques, recording meeting notes, record keeping, and records management
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
* Shows initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services; is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision
Maintenance Support Tech III (In addition to competencies above)
* Considerable knowledge of:
o Office management practices and procedures
o Roadway maintenance concepts, methods, and procedures
o Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
o Purchasing methods and procedures
o Prioritizing and organizing work assignments
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
* Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
* Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
* Standing-prolonged periods of time
* Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
Must be able to report for duty within 60 minutes of notification on a 24-hour basis to respond during emergency situations.
