Job Description
This position will be responsible for procuring materials, services, equipment, and supplies used in the manufacturing of medical devices. The Planner will plan, coordinate, and schedule builds and inventory control of material required for production by customer requirements and product forecasts. The Planner will manage the relationship with assigned suppliers to achieve company business objectives.
Representative Responsibilities:
· Responsible for daily review of production and/or sales order reports
· Responsible for the schedule and coordination of materials between departments and for providing accurate documentation on the location and progress of materials.
· Plans and determines the most efficient method of achieving objectives within the framework of technical capabilities.
· Create manufacturing order schedule and purchase requisitions for assigned projects using MRP.
· Track and monitor purchased material for assigned projects.
· Identify critical parts and critical path assemblies to the scheduled delivery dates.
· Execute plan and control programs through manufacturing and test to ensure timely delivery of equipment to customer.
· Coordinate and expedite flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments.
· Perform complex expediting and record keeping functions with current information on the location and progress of manufactured parts and assemblies.
· Release kits to production floor with proper travelers, operation sheets and documentation.
· Report and resolve any problems or difficulties impacting the on-time delivery of jobs.
· Arrange in-plant and transfer orders of materials to meet production schedules.
· Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports and status and location of materials.
· Move or transport material from one department to another.
· Expedite material to assure delivery and availability of material by due date.
· Follow processing of internal work orders to assure that items and assemblies will be completed on schedule.
· Report and review any ECN’s so that WIP is at current revisions.
· Maintain a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
· Review and report reorder points, safety stock, ABC categorization, MOQ to manager.
· Report to Planning and Material Requirements Manager and oversee the daily planning, pre-planning, and scheduling for production schedule and inventory based off customer projects assigned.
· Monitor inventory and optimize inventory turns and performance, minimize and control inventory obsolescence.
· Collaborate with Production Manager, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality and Shipping/receiving to ensure production progresses on-time and within budget, address issues timely to minimize production disruption.
· Monitor the movement of assemblies through ERP.
· Responsible for performing a variety of routing, dispatching and expediting duties necessary to meet production schedules.
· Measure performance of all critical factors to ensure compliance to plans to include publishing of KPI’s.
· Own production orders from start to finish, recording time and output and troubleshooting any discrepancies immediately with a common goal of correcting the problems.
· Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
· Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
· Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals.
· Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values and keep management informed of any significant problems.
Requirements
Desired Skills, Talent, and Qualifications:
· 6+ years’ experience in Planning or Production Control in Manufacturing/medical device experience
· 6+ years ERP/MRP proficient experience ie. Epicor, Job Boss, etc.
· Strong knowledge of backlog/work schedules, bill of material and receiving reports
· Excellent communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
· S&OP proficiency
· Ability to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks.
· Flexible and Adaptable - priorities change frequently based on business demands, the ability to change direction quickly is critical.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Manufacturing/medical device experience
· Strong planning, analytical and forecasting skills with a strategic focus
· Proficient communication skills
· Strong computer literacy, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and drive corrective actions.
· Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
· Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 is desired.
· Team player and a people person, work well under pressure and minimal supervisor.
· Must have strong aptitude in: Analytical, Organization, Detail Oriented, Problem Solving, Planning, Follow-Up, Project Management and Time Management
· Maintain the ERP system integrity to drive material and production schedules and execute processes per requirements.
