About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.
In both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
We are recruiting for a Head of PMO - Civil Works to support key delivery on the Sizewell C Project, the role will be hybrid with time spent across our London and Client office locations. You'll have significant experience of working in a large-scale project environment and ideally experience of working in multiple PMO functions, understanding how integrated Project Controls management information is achieved. This knowledge and your previous experience on major programmes and projects will enable you to assure and challenge outputs produced by the various PMO functions. You will be working with the supply chain, multi discipline teams and senior leadership to ensure that PMO activities are carried out effectively. Key responsibilities will be:
* Implement the PMO vision, mission and operating model, with clarity on work scope to be delivered within the programme of work and the interfaces to the other programmes - driving delivery of this scope to a high standard (safely, quality, time and cost).
* Lead a team, capable of delivering the work scope, with clear roles and responsibilities and delivery accountabilities.
* Build and manage constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working collaboratively.
* Leading and managing the PMO team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
* Day to day management of the Functional Leads of Schedule, Risk, Cost, Change, Reporting & Insights and Data & IM.
* Establishing and refining PMO processes, procedures, and tools to improve project delivery.
* Providing guidance and support to project managers, ensuring projects are aligned with organisational goals; addressing project-related issues.
* Establishment of consistent best practice with regards to project management, including interface and requirements management.
* Tracking project progress, analysing performance, and reporting on key metrics to stakeholders.
* Managing project resources, including personnel, budget, and tools.
* Identifying areas for improvement within the PMO and implementing changes to optimise project delivery.
* Contributing to the strategic planning process, ensuring projects align with the organisation's overall goals and objectives.
* Establishment of consistent best practice with regards to Digital and data strategy, acting as custodians of data quality.
* Development of clear digital business requirements to support implementation of required systems and tools for efficient delivery.
* implementation of effective lines of defence assurance process for the Project Controls functions.
* On-time production and quality of functional month end Performance Reports.
Here's What You'll Need
* Degree or equivalent qualification in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering or project management.
* A track record of working as a Project Controls Director on large and complex infrastructure projects.
* Active membership of AACE, PMI, APM or similar association with association certifications.
* User of a range of reporting and analytics software and project controls systems particularly Power BI.
* Understanding of various contract types, in particular the NEC suite and FIDIC.
* Experience of working within multiple Project Controls Functions of: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change management and risk.
* Detailed understanding of earned value analysis.
* Experience of successfully managing a team in a matrix structure on a project.
* Experience with increasing responsibility showing an ability to manage senior stakeholders.
* Deliverables focused and an accomplished problem solver, rising to meet any challenge.
* Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
