Role Overview:
A Control Panel Design Engineer with a strong electrical engineering background to lead the design and development of industrial control systems. This role demands expertise in electrical design, standards compliance, and hands-on problem-solving to deliver robust, safety-critical solutions.
Key Skills & Expertise
* Electrical Design Mastery: Proven ability to design control panels, including schematic creation, power distribution, circuit protection, and load calculations using tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical.
* Component Selection & Integration: Expertise in selecting and specifying electrical components (PLCs, HMIs, circuit breakers, relays) for industrial applications.
* Documentation: Ability to produce precise technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, BOMs, test reports, and user manuals.
* Collaboration: Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, production teams, and project managers.
Responsibilities:
* Design and engineer control panels from concept to production, ensuring adherence to electrical standards and client requirements.
* Develop detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
* Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate control panels with PLCs, drives, and SCADA systems.
* Resolve design or performance issues during prototyping, testing, and commissioning phases.
* Stay updated on emerging technologies (e.g., IoT-enabled panels, energy-efficient systems).
Requirements:
* Essential:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Hands-on experience in electrical control panel design (industrial/manufacturing sectors preferred).
* Proficiency in CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical).
* Familiarity with power distribution systems, motor control circuits, and safety relays.
* Strong grasp of CE/UKCA compliance processes.
* Desirable:
* Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and industrial communication protocols.
