Job Title: Qualifications Tutor Location: Remote About the role A virtual tutor is required by IOSH to support learners on the IOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Principles and Practice and the IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health Management and Leadership. The tutor is responsible for supporting the learner in both workshops and on an individual basis, as well as monitoring their ongoing progress. Responsibilities Providing ad-hoc support to learners as requested by email, phone or video call (Level 6 only) Responsibility for their cohort of learners, made up of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12. Tutor’s will be assigned one cohort at a time, with a maximum of two live cohorts (unless otherwise agreed) Supporting learners through their qualification, through the delivery of Inductions, Workshops, Tutorials and more. Some of which will be group sessions, and some one-to-one Tutor support hours, learners have a number of GLH hours, some of which are made up through the tutor support available. With this in mind, Tutors are to respond to learner’s queries via email within 48 hours (between 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday) Monitoring learner’s progress, utilising tools and reports within the LMS, tutors will track their learners throughout the qualification, providing support and encouragement, including supporting the process of reasonable adjustments where necessary Providing constructive feedback to the learner about performance Keeping up to date with any changes made to IOSH policies, processes, or procedures, and to the content of the qualification specification Taking responsibility for your own health, safety, and wellbeing, and undertaking health and safety duties and responsibilities for your role Treating all employees, customers and stakeholders with dignity and respect, ensuring IOSH values and behaviours are always demonstrated An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and the ability to apply this to all situation Carrying out any other reasonable and necessary duties within the remit of the role and grade. The Person Knowledge Knowledge of quality systems, assessments, and processes Knowledge of assessment and training principles Demonstrate understanding of OSH sector Skills and abilities Excellent organisation and planning skills Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills Excellent written communication skills Robust IT skills Excellent record keeping and attention to details, including working to defined processes and conditions Ability to meet agreed deadlines Self-assurance and ability to confidently ask questions Experience Experience of tutoring qualifications Evidence of at least 3 years of working in an educational quality assurance role with knowledge of assessment and quality assurance principles to support the learner Experience of working in a Health and Safety environment Education Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 3 or Level 6 as applicable in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Sector (Essential in most cases) Teaching, training or coaching qualification at Level 3 or above (Essential) Hold Grad IOSH or Chartered Membership status with IOSH (Desirable) About us The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the world’s Chartered body for safety and health professionals.
