Position:
An opportunity has arisen for a Charge Nurse at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What you will do:
You will provide comprehensive clinical assessment and trauma-informed recovery-focused treatment & support to clients with a range of alcohol and drug problems, including mental, sexual, and physical health-related issues. You will provide ongoing care to those who are clinically assessed as appropriate, liaise and work in conjunction with other statutory and non-statutory organisations. You will assess for a range of mental health problems and respond appropriately to these.
Community experience is essential.
Part of this role will be to provide support as part of a rota for the single point of access part of the service, which provides same day/next day response to clients phoning in for help and support. This post will work closely with third sector agencies including With You and Ayrshire Council on Alcohol to provide this intervention. Taking referrals, providing same day assessments, and signposting to appropriate agencies will be at the forefront of this intervention, as well as supporting the initiation of Medication Assisted Treatment.
You will be motivated and forward-thinking to deliver specialist assessment for community or in-patient detoxification, opiate substitution therapy (O.S.T.), and trauma-informed recovery-focused interventions to service users with complex addiction and mental health issues.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
You are required to be a first level registered nurse in mental health. A degree/diploma is preferred.
Expert in-depth comprehensive knowledge and experience in the field of Addictions is essential, incorporating a range of cognitive and behavioral strategies to enhance lifestyle change. You are required to draw on this theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance service design and redesign in line with national standards of best practice.
As an expert in the field, the post holder is routinely required to impart their knowledge and expertise to junior colleagues.
