Are you interested in the changing environmental landscape? Do you enjoy working with senior environmental leaders to deliver improvements to the environment?
This new role at Wessex Water will lead our environmental regulation focus and stakeholder engagement to enable the delivery of our environmental enhancement programme.
What you'll do
We have our largest-ever enhancement programme, constructing and extending water and sewage treatment assets, delivering environmental resilience.
A critical part of this programme is working with external stakeholders, similar to a key account manager, to gather the relevant permissions to enable construction to proceed. This is an outward-facing role, working closely with counterparts in local planning authorities, the Environment Agency, Natural England and other utility companies.
This role will help inform how our environmental requirements align with local and regional policies around economic regeneration and Local Nature Recovery Strategies, for example. A key element will be constructive working with environmental partnerships and bodies to deliver aligned and efficient environmental benefits across our region.
Environmental regulation is changing. We need to understand the changes planned to be ahead of these to enable continued compliance. You will lead your team to horizon scan, looking for new environmental regulation requirements and identifying ways to meet these. These changes present great opportunities to move towards a circular economy, and gather and improve data and understanding to drive efficiency.
You will lead a small but growing technical team focussed on environmental regulation while working closely with our AMP8 delivery partners and our internal Environment and Planning team.
This role will be based within our head office in Bath but will travel across our region, regularly meeting with external partners and delivery teams. It is well suited to hybrid working from our offices, partner locations and home.

We are looking for a leader with the following qualifications and qualities:
* demonstrable experience in an environmental discipline, ideally with a relevant environmental or planning qualification
* a strong understanding of water company environmental and planning requirements

What you'll receive

* Career progression and professional development opportunities.
* 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
* The opportunity to buy up to 10 days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
* A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
* Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
* A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
