Substance Use & Mental Health Advanced Recovery Practitioner - Leicestershire & Rutland
Job Introduction
At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance use issues. We’re looking to recruit an Advanced Recovery Practitioner to join our Substance Use & Mental Health (SUMH) Leicester City Team. In this role, you'll make a real difference to the lives of the people we support by developing personal, client-centered, collaborative treatment and recovery plans. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own personal and professional development while working as part of a friendly, integrated, and multidisciplinary team.
As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner within our Substance Use and Mental Health Team (SUMH), you will ideally have experience working with individuals who have drug and/or alcohol usage alongside co-occurring mental health difficulties, or possess experience in a closely related field in health, social care, or criminal justice services and/or a relevant qualification in a related subject, such as social work.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide enhanced care coordination for a complex/high-risk caseload of service users with co-existing substance use and mental health issues and deliver short-term psychological evidence-based interventions. Additionally, you will support and contribute to the delivery of continued professional development (CPD) events for staff within the service and with key partner agencies. The role will entail providing case consultation and advice to the wider staff team and occasionally leading multi-disciplinary team discussions to support holistic and individual treatment planning.
While ensuring excellent liaison with mental health services, you will take a proactive and lead role in supporting substance use and mental health pathway development within the service and work closely with partnership agencies.
Role Responsibility
* Provide enhanced care coordination for individuals with substance misuse who have high-risk/complex needs, which may include homelessness, criminality, long-term conditions, domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, self-harm, and suicidal ideation.
* Conduct assessments of need and risk assessments, formulating effective risk management and recovery plans that consider the personal recovery goals of the client.
* Engage in effective partnership working with members of any multi-disciplinary team and other agencies, taking on the role of lead professional when appropriate.
* Deliver interventions underpinned by a strong evidence base.
* Participate in clinical meetings and complex case meetings, confidently presenting cases orally and through written reports.
* Support the learning and development of Recovery Workers and Trainee Recovery Workers, providing specialist input into Multi-Disciplinary Meetings.
* Provide professional supervision and mentoring to staff to support their development, learning, and standards of care.
* Be recognized as an expert in substance misuse and mental health within the service.
* Deliver CPD internal & external learning events and represent Turning Point nationally if required in your specialist area.
The Ideal Candidate
* Exceptional report writing and case notes.
* Demonstrable experience in working within a substance misuse treatment and recovery setting.
* Understanding of risk and risk management as it applies to substance misuse and complexity.
* Significant experience of working in health and social care.
