The Financial Controller plays a key role as part of the Finance Leadership Team for DFL. The scope of the role will not only be to control and manage the finances of the business but to also be a key driver for change for the finance function, by working closely with the FP&A and Business Partnering teams, as well as the operational stakeholders of the business to deliver key finance transformation workstreams. Requirements Accounting and Transactional Oversight Ensure that the consolidation of financial statements are prepared and submitted in a timely manner and fairly reflect the performance and position of the business Review and manage the cost and profitability of the business effectively – using this to identify and direct attention to the appropriate finance & operational areas to investigate and manage any key areas Manage the financial accounting processes, to ensure in line with Group Accounting Policies Responsible for reviewing and submitting the Monthly Financial Results and working with the FP&A and Business partnering teams to consolidate and critically review financial statements Responsible for production of Statutory accounts and tax computations. Controls and Governance Ensure that the financial controls and relevant operational processes within the business are appropriate and effective in mitigating financial risk as a minimum Ensure compliance with all Group financial control standards. Ensure the financial control processes used are properly documented, tested and embedded within the businesses Implement an effective and efficient framework for controls, as part of delivering the Internal Controls Roadmap Development for 2025. Manage timely implementation of all external and corporate audit recommendations through liaising with individual businesses Ensure compliance with the business’ governance guidelines, including delegation of authorities, risk register & management reporting accounting policies, chart of accounts etc A visible advocate of the global core process development ensuring that common Group Finance processes are deployed and adhered to Financial Operational Delivery Ownership of central costs and headcount for the business, making sure this is controlled and tracked in a rigorous manner Develop overall Financial Operating Performance KPI Dashboard - Timely reporting of all finance functions/ Supplier payments/Aged debt reporting etc that demonstrates transparency & provides platform to build credibility Develop clear SLA arrangements between finance functions & other business functions Leadership role with key stakeholders Group Functions Take on central role for managing and leading key group functions – Group Finance, Tax and Internal Audit Proactive management of group comms and relationship - strive to be best in class and deliver leadership in approach effective coordination and alignment between DFL and Weybourne External Audit - Manage relationship with external auditors and be the primary point of contact on matters of external audit. And coordinate this with internal stakeholders Senior leadership DFL – Representation as part of the senior management leadership team of the business Other roles and responsibilities Assist in preparation of presentations to Board of directors and senior Management team as required Support Ad-hoc projects as required Deputise for the CFO as and when needed Person Specification Technical Skills - Essential Qualified Accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA Experience and understanding of controls framework, COSO and risk assessment (including implementation) Degree in Accounting and Finance or related field Excellent knowledge and hands on experience of financial practices, IFRS/Local GAAP, taxation, cost management Previous experience in a Financial Controlling role of a similar sized/complexity business Highly skilled in the use of MS Excel & Power Point Industry experience in a manufacturing environment a must (proficient in inventory valuation and control) Desirable but not essential Knowledge in data analytical tools such as Power BI Experience in delivering or part of a team that has implemented significant IT/Digital projects (e.g. ERP, Data Analytic tools, Operational system integrations) Experience in Product Development Lifecycles / New product development Major Capital Project Controlling experience Food/Agriculture industry experience Other skills Demonstrate strong leadership skills to drive cultural change in the finance community as well as the operational community to articulate the finance transformation initiatives which will be critical to deliver the growth for the business.
