Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in synthetic organic chemistry to work under the supervision of Dr Miriam O’Duill in the School of Chemistry, University of Nottingham. The successful applicant will design and synthesise new hypervalent iodine reagents. In-depth stability and reactivity studies will be carried out to understand structure-stability and structure-reactivity relationships in the solid state and in solution. This knowledge will be used to design new reagents and demonstrate their usefulness as late-stage alkylating agents.
Minimum Requirements:
1. PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or a related area.
2. Hands-on experience in inert synthesis and organic methodology development, including reactivity studies and mechanistic investigations.
3. Creative problem solving and excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Teamworking skills and the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project.
5. A track record of high-quality publications.
6. Ability to foster a supportive, creative research culture and commitment to learn from others.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post and is available for a period of 12 months starting on or around 1 July 2025 (and no later than 1 September 2025). The application deadline is 19 May 2025.
