University students eager to gain classroom experience are encouraged to apply About the Role As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping children manage their emotions and behaviours, ensuring they feel supported and valued in the classroom. Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams, you will provide tailored interventions to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and confidence in learning. Responsibilities of the Behaviour Support Assistant: Support students who require additional guidance with behaviour and emotional regulation. Implement individual behaviour management plans and assist in de-escalating challenging situations. Provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring pupils stay engaged with their learning. Foster a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment where students feel safe and respected. Assist with developing strategies to improve social skills, confidence, and self-regulation. Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver tailored interventions suited to individual needs. Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback and recommendations to teaching staff. Actively promote positive behaviour strategies, encouraging pupils to make responsible choices. Support children in managing transitions and coping with school routines effectively. Uphold school safeguarding policies, ensuring student welfare remains the top priority. The successful candidate will: A strong passion for supporting children's well-being and behavioural development. Experience working with children in an educational, care, or mentoring capacity (experience with SEN, youth work, or behavioural support is advantageous). A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to managing challenging situations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and staff. The ability to stay calm under pressure and use de-escalation techniques effectively. A willingness to work collaboratively with the wider school team to support students holistically. University students studying psychology, education, social work, or related fields are encouraged to apply, as this role provides invaluable hands-on experience in behaviour management.
