Quantum Scholars is working with a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Luton to recruit a passionate and experienced Subject Leader for Design and Technology. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated educator to take on a leadership role within a supportive school community. The position is full-time, permanent, starting in September 2025, with a TLR (Teaching and Learning Responsibility) offered in recognition of the leadership responsibilities associated with this role. This will also be based on experience.

Responsibilities:
Department Leadership & Strategy: Lead the Design and Technology department, developing and implementing strategies to drive high-quality teaching and continuous improvement in student outcomes.
Curriculum Innovation: Shape the Design and Technology curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the latest trends in design, engineering, and technology.
Outstanding Teaching: Deliver inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love for the subject and providing students with a solid foundation in design thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills.
Staff Development: Support and mentor a team of Design and Technology teachers, promoting a culture of collaborative practice and continuous professional development.
Assessment & Monitoring: Take responsibility for tracking student progress, analyzing assessment data, and implementing strategies to raise achievement across the department.
Resources & Budgeting: Effectively manage departmental resources, including budgeting for tools, equipment, and technology, to ensure a high standard of teaching and student engagement.
Whole-School Contribution: Contribute to the school's overall development by working closely with senior leadership, other subject leaders, and supporting school-wide initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience: A qualified teacher with proven experience in teaching Design and Technology at secondary level, including leadership experience (or potential for leadership).
Expertise: Strong knowledge of the Design and Technology curriculum, including practical experience in areas such as CAD, 3D printing, product design, and resistant materials.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead a team, with strong organizational and interpersonal skills that foster collaboration and staff development.
Commitment to Excellence: A passion for ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, with a focus on nurturing student creativity, problem-solving abilities, and technical skills.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
