The Company
Our client is an EPC business who deliver large turnkey engineering projects for customers in the FMCG, Process and Pharmaceutical markets. The business takes responsibility for the delivery of projects from initial system design through to commissioning at customer sites, delivering projects on a global scale for SME and large blue-chip customers.
The business has been on an incredible journey in the past decade, transforming from delivering £20 million of projects per year to in excess of £100 million. With ambitious plans to be the world leader in their field, they have invested heavily in their infrastructure, brand, and staff development as part of this mission.
The business has created a new role to head up both their controls and electrical engineering functions, which carry out all software automation and electrical design activity for projects. This department currently consists of 25 personnel ranging from Project Managers to graduate engineers. The role would suit a strategic thinker who also wants to drive operational performance excellence.

The Role
The Electrical & Controls Operations Manager will take accountability for the development of the short, medium, and long-term strategy for the department, as well as the day-to-day operational performance of the team. This role provides a real opportunity to shape the culture of the division. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Driving the integration of electrical and controls engineering across projects
2. Creating a strategy and vision for electrical and controls engineering in the business
3. Managing electrical design and software design resources against projects being delivered
4. Leading the recruitment, development, and goal management of the team
5. Creating a collaborative approach with other department heads
6. Ensuring quality of electrical and software design work meets specified standards for projects
7. Identifying key areas for performance improvement in the team and creating effective solutions to maximize results
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this role, you will need:
1. A background in electrical design or software/controls engineering
2. Demonstrable experience leading and managing a team
3. The ability to create and execute on a vision and strategy
4. Excellent people management skills
5. A HNC or above in a related discipline
The Benefits
For this role, you will receive:
1. £75,000 – £85,000 dependent upon experience
2. A car allowance of £5,460
