Our client is a Public, Private and Social Housing, Refurbishment and Construction contractor, and they are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years previous experience as a QS. The role will take on either construction projects of varied sectors up to £2m and/or local authority void contracts (running for another 3 years).
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in project costs and financial controls, as well as overseeing a small team of less experienced Quantity Surveyors. You will work closely with the commercial team and project managers to ensure accurate cost estimation, cost monitoring, and effective budget management throughout all phases of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing and submitting bid documentation with the support of the project team.
2. Negotiation of pricing and T&Cs with our Clients.
3. Negotiation of pricing and T&Cs with our supply chain.
4. Contract Administration including issuing of the appropriate notices, payments etc.
5. Minimise waste through effective risk management and cost control.
6. Providing critical commercial support to the project team to protect the interests of the company.
7. Management Accounts and Reporting.
8. Proactive and timely cash recovery.
9. Any other commercial management activity deemed good industry practice.
What qualifications, skills and experience are we looking for?
* UK Driving Licence.
* Willingness to travel to site for meetings.
* Degree Qualification in Quantity Surveyor or relevant experience.
* Experience of social housing and voids advantageous.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet key deadlines in a pressurised, target-driven environment, whilst maintaining a customer-focused ethos.
* Great leadership and management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to build positive relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment to achieve programme targets.
* Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills.
* Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
* Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated.
* Ability to identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement.
