Job Description:
The Trainee Probation Officer Programme offers a training salary of £26,475, moving to £35,130 upon qualification. A London weighting allowance of £4,249 is also available. This extraordinary role allows you to change lives by working with offenders in the community, prisons, and courts, supporting them to get back on track and turn their lives around. You will gain a professional qualification with our support, alongside a competitive salary, generous leave, and great training.
What the Role Involves:
You will work as a probation services officer while earning your qualification. This includes visiting prisons and attending courts to make interventions with offenders, helping them understand their behavior and motivating them to change. You will also work with victims of crime, colleagues in the criminal justice system, charities, and the wider community.
Skills and Experience:
We welcome individuals from various backgrounds. To join, you will need emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Building rapport quickly and de-escalating volatile situations is essential. Self-management and a passion for your work are crucial, along with excellent report-writing skills. Experience working with individuals demonstrating challenging behavior, whether paid or voluntary, is required.
What You Need to Apply:
A recognized Level 3 qualification or above is required, such as A level, access to higher education diploma, advanced apprenticeship, applied general, or AS level. The subject of your qualification is not important. We offer various learning programs depending on your qualification level, ranging from 15 to 27 months.
What We Offer:
A competitive salary and benefits package, including enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme, with contributions of around 6.5% from you and around 29.6% from your employer. You will be part of a supportive, diverse, and friendly team, with guidance from your divisional training manager, line manager, and practice tutor throughout your studies.
