Teaching Assistant

We are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a special school. You will be working under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support in classroom management. This role is crucial in developing and improving the learning for children who require a nurturing approach to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Day to day of the role:
* Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
* Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding appropriately to individual needs.
* Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
* Participate in students’ behaviour programmes and be aware of their Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
* Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and undertake pupil record keeping as requested.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Good numeracy and literacy skills.
* Ability to react constructively to challenging situations.
* Experience in dealing with emotional and physical challenges presented by pupils.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
* Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people.
* Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities.
