Permanent contract | £42,463 to £46,732 per annum (Scale K) | 37 hours per week | Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich
We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers/Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), Practice Consultants and Team Managers new to Norfolk County Council. Amount to be repaid in full should they leave within two years of employment.

We work with adults experiencing mental illness, including those with dual diagnoses and those facing severe and chronic self-neglect. If you excel in timely decision-making and risk management, have a passion for upholding statutory duties and best practice guidance, and possess the skills and experience to support Social Workers and practitioners in implementing the self-neglect protocol while adhering to statutory policies and procedures, this role may be for you.
You will be responsible for coordinating Section 117 Mental Health Act (MHA) reviews, leading preventative interventions, and promoting strengths-based practice. Additionally, you will support the implementation of key legislation relevant to our client group, including the Care Act 2014 (Section 42 duties), the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Criminal Justice Act 2003, and the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended in 2007, including Community Treatment Orders [CTOs]). Upholding human rights and ethical social work values will be central to your role.
As part of our Central Locality Mental Health Social Care Team, you will support the management team in delivering our statutory functions while contributing to the ongoing development of our Living Well approach. As a Practice Consultant, you will work closely with colleagues and lead multi-agency meetings to support our client group. With appropriate training, you will be expected to lead Section 42 safeguarding meetings and chair Best Interests Meetings.
Strong communication skills will be essential in fostering and strengthening relationships with partner agencies. As a Practice Consultant, you will take a leadership role in collaborating with GP surgeries, housing authorities, the homeless team, carers and families, NSFT/ICB, CRHTT, NFS, EHCP Coordinators, MARAC, Children’s Services, Prison Services, MAPPA, EAAS, MASH, and other key stakeholders.
