Reception and Administration Assistant
Location: YMCA Yorkshire Coast, Scarborough
Hours: Monday 9am-5pm, Tuesday 9am-3pm, Wednesday 9am-2pm
Salary: £12.21 per hour (Grade 1)
Contract: Part-time, permanent
Holidays: 22 days plus bank holidays (pro-rata)
DBS: This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and an enhanced DBS check will be provided by YMCA.

About the Role
As the Reception and Administration Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, members, and callers, presenting a friendly and professional image of YMCA Yorkshire Coast. You will ensure a warm welcome for all, provide information about our services, and handle enquiries efficiently across multiple channels, including face-to-face, phone, email, and social media.
You’ll also play a key role in processing bookings, handling transactions, and keeping our visitor areas well-presented and engaging. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy, customer-focused environment and enjoys making a difference in their local community.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver excellent customer service to all visitors and callers.
Process transactions for theatre tickets, activity fees, and room hires.
Promote YMCA membership and encourage community engagement.
Ensure the reception and visitor areas are welcoming and well-maintained.
Handle administrative tasks such as mailshots, reports, and financial processes.
Act as a keyholder, ensuring the security of the building when required.
What We’re Looking For
Experience in customer service, administration, or reception roles.
Strong communication and IT skills (including Microsoft Office).
Ability to multitask in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure.
A welcoming, friendly approach with great interpersonal skills.
Confidence working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Experience handling cash and financial processes is desirable.
