Overview:
Part-time 2 days (14 hours) per week on a flexible basis to include regular evening and weekend meetings in person and online. Fixed term: 3 years. Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 (pro rata) dependent upon experience. Accountable to: Senior Project Manager Fit for Mission. 25 days pro rata holiday per year + pro rata bank holiday + 3 extra days at Christmas. Introduction:
This part-time fixed-term role assists current parish safeguarding teams to transition to working as a team in their larger parish.
1. Coordinate the implementation of the Fit for Mission Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment operational model and existing Diocesan and National Safeguarding Procedures into the larger parish, ensuring successful transition.
2. Collaborate with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, the FfM Senior Project Manager, and Parish based Change Leads and Facilitators regarding safeguarding transition status.
3. Assist in forming new safeguarding teams in each larger parish, mentoring newly formed worship communities and advising them on appropriate resources and guidance during the transition.
4. Provide direct support to worshipping communities not fully compliant with all Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment processes in preparation for the transition.
5. Provide direction and guidance to clergy, the emerging PCC, and Parish Safeguarding Officers on their responsibilities and accountability.
6. Assist local support services teams in developing processes for safer recruiting within their Churchsuite CRM.
It is a varied role with support to learn and apply project management and communication skills in a culture that values work-life balance and flexible working.
What We Are Looking For:
1. Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding issues within a faith setting.
2. Familiarity with the Church of England Safeguarding Policy and Procedures.
3. Project/change management experience.
4. Ability to challenge and address misunderstandings and resistance with clarity and compassion.
5. Excellent communication and IT skills including Microsoft Office/Teams.
6. Able to work autonomously and manage workload effectively.
7. Willingness to travel to meetings across the Diocese of Liverpool and St James House.
Ideal Candidate:
Essential Requirements:
1. Experience of safeguarding children and adults, applying legislation, guidance, and best practice.
2. Experience of supporting volunteers.
3. Confidence to work with church leaders and stakeholders, with ability to challenge misunderstandings of statutory guidance.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Experience of safeguarding in a church/faith context.
2. Relevant professional qualification (e.g., social care, criminal justice) with current registration where applicable.
