Operations Director (Exhibitions & Events)
Location: Southampton + Regular International Travel
Salary: Up to £75k (dependent on experience) + Bonus & Benefits

Reports to: CEO / Managing Director
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Operations Director to lead the technical aspects of our exhibitions and events. As part of our growing team, you will ensure the flawless execution of all technical operations, including construction, audiovisual, brand activations, and on-site services. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a genuine passion for delivering world-class events.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Planning & Coordination:
* Develop and implement comprehensive technical plans for events and exhibitions, ensuring all requirements are met with precision and excellence.
* Team Leadership:
* Lead and manage a talented in-house production team and external contractors, offering support, guidance, and training to drive peak performance.
* Supply Chain Management:
* Collaborate with external suppliers to secure necessary equipment and services, negotiate contracts, and foster strong relationships.
* Budget Management:
* Oversee the preparation and management of technical budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions that maintain the highest quality standards.
* Health & Safety Compliance:
* Ensure all technical operations comply with relevant health and safety regulations, conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing necessary safety measures.
* On-Site Supervision:
* Manage the build-up, operation, and breakdown of events, troubleshooting any issues that arise to ensure seamless execution on-site.
* Innovation & Improvement:
* Stay at the forefront of industry trends and technologies, continually improving technical processes to enhance the attendee experience and deliver cutting-edge events.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience & Qualifications:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in a technical or leadership role within the events and exhibition industry.

* Technical Expertise:
* In-depth knowledge of lighting, sound, video, and temporary structures used in exhibitions.
* Leadership:
* Proven ability to inspire, lead, and motivate teams while maintaining strong communication and interpersonal relationships.
* Problem-Solving:
* Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and the composure to handle pressure effectively.
* Project Management:
* Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Budgeting & Cost Control:
* Expertise in managing budgets, with a focus on cost efficiency and maximization of resources.
* Health & Safety Knowledge:
* A solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices within the events sector.
* Innovation Mindset:
* A proactive approach to integrating new technologies and improving event operations.
